Study the WRF model

Dates: 2022
Location: to be confirmed

Leading scientists from the US National Center for Atmospheric Research will introduce you to the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model, a next-generation mesoscale numerical weather prediction system.

The model is designed for both atmospheric research and operational forecasting applications.

The course leads up to a seminar providing the opportunity to hear how other WRF users and developers are using WRF for their scientific problems.

You can also present your own work, and build a network of European and overseas scientists.

Learning Outcomes

We aim for student to:

  • Develop core WRF set-up and model execution skills
  • Work with experts to understand how to develop the model for their own applications
  • Become part of the global WRF community through building their network
  • Improve their presentation skills of their own work
  • Teaching Staff

The course is led by leading scientists from the US National Center for Atmospheric Research, experts in the field of Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF).
